We've been having a great week! We've had a break from teething and Maya's naps have reflected that. We have been giving her more and more freedom around the house. Today we explored the kitchen together. She can't get enough of the way toys roll around on the vinyl floor, clearly superior to their slow movements on the living room carpet. She also likes to pat the cupboards, but Mark noticed she is apprehensive about opening them. I'm sure that won't last long. She continues to adore books and spends most of her time pouring over her pile of board books! Here she reads her book from Grandma Chris and Grandpa Tim :)

What an amazing day today is!!!
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question,'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, quality, and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, other-centered men can build up."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Surely, in the light of history, it is more intelligent to hope rather than fear, to try rather than not to try."
Eleanor Roosevelt

Busy Girl

Maya has had kind of a rough week as she is getting her first two teeth and has had some diaper rash and that sort of thing along with the teething. She has truly been trying to continue to be herself and have a good time, but it hasn't been easy. After watching her this week I feel like she must be an optimist. She has had some truly frustrating, painful symptoms, yet continues to giggle and play throughout the day. I am very proud of her!
